Long County teams fall to Pierce; beat Toombs

Both the girls and boys Long County basketball teams fell to teams from Pierce County on Friday, but then bounced back on Saturday to defeat the teams from Toombs County.

Playing in Blackshear, in an early Region 2-AAA matchup for both teams, the Lady Tide fell to the Lady Bears 49-35. The Blue Tide played better and had chances to secure a win against the Bears, but they too lost 75-73.
The Long County teams were back on the road the next day, playing Toombs County in Lyons. The outcomes were better for the Ludowici squads as the Lady Tide won handedly 60-44 while the boys notched a 66-60 win.
With the results, the Blue Tide improved their overall record to 8-4 and 1-1 in the region. The Lady Tide now sit at 5-6 and 0-2.

Tuesday, the Tide teams hit the road again, this time traveling to Pembroke to take on Bryan County in non-region games.
At 0-9, the Redskins went into the game looking for their first win of the season, while the Lady Redskins were 9-1 before the game. Results will be reported in an upcoming paper.
