Former First Presbyterian Christian Academy pitcher Richard Lovelady received a promotion in Minor League Baseball. Currently in the Kansas City Royals farm system, Lovelady was called from the Royals Rookie League affiliate, the Idaho Falls Chukars, to their Class A Advanced affiliate, the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

Lovelady was drafted in the 2016 MLB Draft in the 10th round by the Royals, and spent the 2016 season splitting time with the Arizona League Royals and Idaho Falls, finishing the season with a 2-1 record in 22 total games with a 1.73 ERA. Prior to being drafted, he played one season with Kennesaw State University.

Lovelady has already made an impact with the Blue Rocks in the 2017 season, pitching the 8th inning of their season opener against the Potomac Nationals last Friday. He gave up two hits and a run, but recorded two strikeouts in the Blue Rocks 6-2 victory.
