The Panther boys’ basketball team will host the Sweet 16 game of the state playoffs at Liberty County high School after beating Howard High School 87-61 in the first round game Wednesday.
The Huskies were the fourth seed team from region 2-AAAA. The Panther boys remain the top seed of region 3-AAAA with a 24-1 overall record and 10-0 region mark to date.
Being the top seed means the Liberty boys get to host Saturday’s Sweet 16 game against Columbia High School Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Eagles will be traveling from Decatur and are 14-12 overall and 8-10 in region 6-AAAA.
Admission is $7. Doors will open at 5 p.m. GHSA and GAOA passes will be honored at the Pass Gate.
In other state playoff news the Liberty girls played on the road Tuesday where they lost the first round game at Veterans High School. The Liberty girls lost 67-37.
