Panthers are 7-2, 3-1 in region

Both local football teams are going strong as the season moves closer to the playoffs. The Liberty County Panthers are 7-2 overall and 3-1 in region action, beating Brantley County 28-7 on Oct. 26. Meanwhile the Bradwell Institute Tigers improved to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in region play after beating Brunswick High 41-14 Oct. 26.

TIGERS

Senior Tiger running back Kevin Harris gave a stellar performance rushing for 203 yards on 26 carries scoring all six touchdowns. Senior quarterback Vencent Gilbert had 150 passing yards. David Spaulding had six receptions for 82 yards.

Romero Smalls led the defense with 9 total tackles. Alijah Jones, Lorenzo Ware and Ke’ron Mason had 8 total tackles each. Jones also made an interception in the game. 

The Tigers host Glynn Academy Friday at 7:30 p.m.

PANTHERS

The Panthers outscored the Herons with touchdown runs by Kris Coleman, Dionte Bowens and Desmond Brown. Antwann Winn recovered a fumble and ran it in for another Panther touchdown.

Markel Johnson led the defense with 12 total tackles. Carlos Hunt had 10. The Liberty team had 216 rushing yards and 107 passing yards in the win. Coleman was the leading rusher with 130 yards on 17 carries. Coleman also had 44 yards off 2 receptions. Anthony Parker had 2 catches for 45 yards.

This Friday the Panthers will play at 7:30 p.m. at Pierce County.
