The annual Savannah Tire Hockey Classic will begin Jan. 13 at the Savannah Civic Center.

The Savannah Tire Hockey Classic is a collegiate hockey tournament that features six of the South’s collegiate hockey programs: University of Georgia, University of Florida, Georgia Tech, Florida State, University of South Carolina and The Citadel.

The very first "Rumble in the Rink" or Memorial Health Hockey Classic, took place Jan. 8-9, 1999 at the Savannah Civic Center. The four original teams were the University of Georgia, University of Florida, Georgia Tech and the University of Tennessee. Georgia Tech captured the first Thrasher Cup, named in honor of the newly formed NHL team in Atlanta.

Tickets prices start at $8 for children, military and groups of 20 or more, $10 for individuals over 12 for the mezzanine level, $13 for children, military and groups of 20 or more and $15 for individuals for the lower level seats.
