Long County football standout Brendon Scott was recently presented with his Coastal Courier/Mike Reed Player of the Year Trophy.
Scott becomes the first player for the Blue Tide to win the award more than once.
“It feels real nice to get it again, but I do want to mention my whole offensive line,” he said. “Without them, I wouldn’t have had the success that I did.”
Blue Tide head coach Eric McNair had nothing but praise for Scott as both a football player and a person.
“I couldn’t think of a better recipient for this award,” McNair said. “He embodies what we look for in a student-athlete. He’s just a fine young man.”
According to MaxPreps.com, in 2015, Scott passed for 1,657 yards, threw 12 touchdown passes, and completed 56 percent of his passes.
He also scored three touchdowns on the ground, rushed for 719 yards, and posted a 5.3 yards-per-carry average.
Scott’s total yards from scrimmage was 2,376 in 10 games.
Other awards that Scott received this year for football include being named the Region 2-AA Player of the Year and Blue Tide Overall Player of the Year.
