Scott leads Savannah State to first win

Marcus Scott V scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Savannah State men’s basketball team to their first win of the 2019-20 season, a 89-79 home win over Kentucky State which took place Nov. 30 in Tiger Arena.

The Hinesville native played 21 minutes in the contest and went 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Scott hit five of eight shots from the field while also getting two rebounds, one assist and four steals.

SSU is currently 1-3 overall and 1-1 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

After four games, the 5-foot-9 freshman who transferred to SSU from the Air Force Prep School, is averaging 12.5 points a game and has made all 13 of his free throw attempts. Scott averages 18.8 minutes of playing time per contest, 2.0 steals, 1.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game.

Scott, who also scored 19 points in a loss to the College of Coastal Georgia, is shooting 44 percent from the field while making 33 percent of his 3-point attempts.

Scott is the son of Marcus Scott IV and Brigitte Graham.
