Savannah State University Tiger slugger Charles “Trey” Sikes was recently named to the 2015 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American team by Collegiate Baseball, according to SSU’s website.
Sikes was named to the third team, as a first baseman.
Last season, the Hinesville native had a .368 batting average with 74 hits, 16 doubles, 10 home runs and one triple, scoring 41 runs and batting in 51 runs. He also drew 20 walks.
Sikes was the lone player selected from the state and the only player named from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
The teams feature a remarkable mix of talented NCAA Division I baseball players across the nation, including six starting pitchers with a combined 1.97 ERA. Closer Riley Ferrell of Texas Christian is projected as the player of the year by Collegiate Baseball in 2015.
Sikes played baseball at Liberty County High School.
