Gators tryouts next week
The Hinesville Gators will have tryouts for the fall 2016 season at 6 p.m. Tuesday to June 9 at James Brown Park.
Tryouts are for the following age groups: U13 boys, U14 boys, U15 boys, U17 boys, U14 girls and U18 girls.
Players will check in with Marcia Graham under the pavilion. There is no cost to tryout.

Tiger youth football camp
The coaching staff of Bradwell Institute is hosting a youth football camp Monday June 9 at Liberty Independent Troop Park. The camp is open to youth ages 7-14. Camp will run from 6:30-8 p.m. each day. The fee is $40 and registration is open at the Liberty County Recreation Department Office on Highway 84.

4-H selling Braves tickets
The Long County 4-H Club is selling tickets to the Atlanta Braves 4-H Night, July 16.
The game against the Colorado Rockies starts at 7:10 p.m. Tickets cost $13 each. Parking passes cost $10, $20 for passenger vans, and $40 for buses.
County Extension Associate Savannah Carter said a limited number of tickets have been reserved for the Georgia 4-H clubs, and they are being sold on a first come basis.

Kingfish Classic for 200 Club
The fifth annual Coastal Empire Kingfish Classic Tournament is slated to return to Richmond Hill on June 11. Proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit The Two Hundred Club of the Coastal Empire, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting families of law-enforcement officers and firefighters who suffer critical injuries or death in the line of duty www.two hundredclub.org
In past years, around 100 teams have signed up for this Kingfish Tournament competition, so interested anglers will want to submit their registration forms soon. Early entries are now being accepted, and the team fee is just $350.
After today, the fee climbs to $375. Early entries should be mailed to P.O. Box 1133, Richmond Hill, GA 31324. Please make checks payable to Fort McAllister Sport Fishing Club.
Completed registration forms and fees must be in club possession prior to the end of the Captains’ Meeting at 7 p.m. June 10. Lines are allowed in the water at 7 a.m. June 11, and all boats must arrive at the check-in point to weigh fish no later than 5:30 p.m.

Walk to Dorchester June 18
The 16th annual Walk to Dorchester is scheduled for June 18. Registration forms are available at dorchesteracademyia.org.
Walkers may also register on that day at different locations, depending on how far they wish to walk. Registration at Briar Bay Park begins at 6 a.m. (full 9 miles). Registration at First Zion Baptist starts at 6:45 (6.7 miles) and registration at Thebes AME Church starts at 9:15 (1.2 miles). You must register to participate. Registration is $10.
Proceeds go to help restore the school that was built to educate former slaves.
Walkers younger than 18 must have permission of parent or guardian. Walkers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and sunscreen. Walkers are also encouraged to walk the distance they can complete safely. Participants should be dropped off at their starting point and make arrangements to be picked up at Dorchester Academy.
