Tater Golf Scramble
A golf tournament has been set for Sept. 24 to help the family of Jessica “Tater” Eason, 13, who has bad brain cancer, pay bills.
The granddaughter of Sgt. Gary Eason with the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office was found to have a golf-ball size tumor at the base of her skull, near her brain stem, in December. In February, doctors were able to remove 75 percent of the tumor, but not all of it because it had grown around the brain stem. Jessica continues to have severe headaches and has to endure months of treatments.
The tournament to raise funds for her continued medical care will be at the Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville.
It is a four-person scramble. The entry fee is $50 per person. Two mulligans are included. Sponsors are welcome at $50, $100 and $200. Registration starts at 8 a.m., and tee-off is at 9 a.m. Cash prizes and awards will be given. For more information call Matt Marchand at 912-610-3345, Tabatha Marchand at 912-977-0975 or Tim Blanton at 912-617-4900.

Rotary Fishing Tournamnet Sept. 10
The proceeds from the fishing tournament will allow Hinesville Rotary to provide community projects and events, including college scholarships, high school students’ leadership development, and hosting students from abroad.
This year’s Hinesville Rotary Fishing Tournament will be Sept. 10. Tournament participants will be able to begin the tournament anywhere they would like, but the weigh-in will be at the Sunbury Crab Company on the Medway River near Midway.
The activities will include a Captains’ Dinner at 7 p.m. on Sept. 9, as well as a Sunset Party that will include a Live Band after the weigh-in on the day of the event. There will be cash prizes for multiple categories with the target species being both Redfish and Speckled Trout.
The Hinesville Rotary Club welcomes you to participate in the tournament and/or become a sponsor. For your donation, you will receive sponsor recognition, entry for the tournament and tickets to the Sunset Party.
