The Long County Blue Tide boys have rolled to a 7-1 start, winning games by an average of 21.7 points per game. On Saturday, Dec 16, they hosted the Claxton Tigers for their Alumni Night and the result was not much different in a 68-40 victory.

Claxton came out swinging in the third quarter as the Tigers built a 25-16 lead. After missing their first five attempts from three, the Tide finally hit one as Imani Pouncey sunk a three at the 6:25 mark to make the score 25-19.
A layup made the score 25-21, but the Tigers went on a 9-0 run to go up 34-21 with 2:38 left in the third and closed out on a 13-3 run to lead 38-24 going into the fourth quarter.
The deficit was just too much for the Lady Tide to overcome as they fell 51-32 to fall to 2-6 on the season.
The boys took the court and looked to keep their winning ways going. Things looked good for the Tide to start as they opened on a 14-2 run.
However, the 1-7 Tigers didn’t lay down as they closed the first on a 10-4 run and hit a 3 at the buzzer to make the score 18-12 going into the second quarter.
Their run extended to 15-4 since the 3:00 of the first quarter as they pulled to within 1 point at the 7:00 of the second quarter. The Tide then went on a 9-0 run to go up by 10 with 3:15 left in the half.
They closed the second quarter on a 13-0 run. After hitting eight 3s against Wayne County on Friday, they team struggled from 3-point range.
