The Long County soccer teams pummeled Bacon County’s teams on March 15, both winning 10-0.
With the wins, the Blue Tide remained 10-0 overall and 7-0 in Region 2-AA. Long County is ranked No. 3 among state AA teams, according to this week’s euros portscoreboard.com.

Coach Paul Austin said the ranking has added pressure to every game.
“Being third in state has put a target on our back, and we have felt the pressure of it the past few weeks,” Austin said. “But we continue to just look one game at a time.”

The coach commended his defense’s consistent play.

“The defense has been good all year, and I hope we can keep up the good play,” he said.
The Lady Tide improved their overall record to 8-2 and their region mark to 6-1. The girls fell one spot in this week’s rankings to No. 8 in the state.
Comments and stats were also requested from the girls’ game, but were not available.

With the losses, both Bacon County teams fell to 0-6, according to eurosportscore board.com.
Tuesday, Long County was back at home taking on Groves in more region action. The Rebels went into the game with a 5-3 record, while the Lady Rebels sit at 2-6. Results were not available by press time. Long County plays in Vidalia Friday.
