HEPHZIBAH - The Long County Blue Tide wrestling team is off to a great start in its second season. After taking big wins in their first match of the season, they took a long trip up to Hepzibah to take part in the Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday, Nov. 18.
The team placed third out of 13 teams and finishing just points outside of second place. They finished with 284 behind 6A Grovetown (334.5) and 11 points behind 7A Richmond Hill (295).
Twelve wrestlers finished in the top three of their weight classes. Andre Mills, a 2023 state qualifier, and Mailey Boucher placed first in the boys 132 pound class and girls 235 pound class respectively.
Colteon Young (144), London Frederick (175), and Jerome Brown (285) finished second for the boys in their weight classes. Aleena Clark (100-110) and Trinity Mook (170-190) both finished second for the girls in their weight classes.
Cayden Benton (126), Chance Bradley (132), Michael Midgorden (144), Maverick Stayskal (150), and Grayson Mock (285) all finished third for the day.
The team will be closer to home on Tuesday, Nov. 21 as they travel to Darien to take part in the Buccaneer Brawl.
