Glynn, Brunswick stop Bradwell volleyball winning streak

The Bradwell Institute volleyball team dropped both ends of a Region 1-6A play date with Glynn Academy and Brunswick on Tuesday.

The Lady Pirates posted a 25-9, 25-23 win in the opener and the Red Terrors blanked the Lady Tigers in the nightcap.

The Lady Tigers had ripped off five straight wins to get to 13-6 on the season.

The Lady Tigers outlasted Westminster of Augusta to pull out a 2-1 win, taking the first game 25-23 and the deciding game 15-12. The Lady Wildcats took the second game 25-11.

That broke a run of five straight sweeps for Bradwell. The Lady Tigers downed Johnson 25-21 and 25-12, beat Richmond County Technical Career Magnet, topped Butler 25-7, 25-12 and dispatched Cross Creek 25-9 and 25-7.

In the wins over Westminster, Cross Creek and Butler, Zaydi Perez racked up 10 kills, six aces and 36 assists. Ahmiya Raby had nine kills and eight aces, Brielle Jackson had eight kills and 11 aces, Destiny Judson accounted for eight kills and seven aces, Sadie Young had 10 kills and three aces and Vicky Foday-Kapka had six kills and five aces.

Bradwell will host Groves and Long County today beginning at 6 p.m.
