Long County Lady Blue Tide golfer Brianna Copes will go down as one of the best in the team’s history. In March, she set the school record for a single match low, shooting a 43 in a match against Islands and Savannah Arts Academy.

On April 2, Copes was at it again, this time at her home course.

The Tide took on Bryan County at Cherokee Rose Country Club in Hinesville and Copes led the charge for a win over the Redskins. In the match, she became the first Lady Tide golfer to break 40 by shooting a career low 39.

Copes has been steadily improving during the 2026 season and head coach Brendon Scott is confident she will make it back to the state tournament in May.

“We are very proud of Brianna,” Scott said. “She’s getting better every day.”

Copes became the first Lady Tide golfer to qualify for the state tournament during the 2025 season and hopes to do the same for her senior year.

The Lady Tide also got some good scores by fellow senior Morgan Goode, who shot a career low 50, and freshman Emilee Bleyman with a 52.

The boys also dominated, with five golfers shooting under 50 on the day. Dewey Smith shot a 41, Gage Owens shot 42, TJayden Vaughn shot 42, Chris Peterson shot 45 and Thomas Federer shot 47.

Both Tide teams went on to wins over the Redskins and they will look to wrap up the regular season on April 16 at home against McIntosh County Academy before competing in the area tournament April 28 at Georgia Southern University.
