MACON -- After a third-place finish in the 2021 BSN Sports Slam Dunk competition, Long County Blue Tide basketball star Cameryn Johnson fell just short of the gold medal at this year’s competition. He finished second in Macon, falling to reigning champion Wilson Sibley.

Johnson beat out several other competitors through fan voting to earn his way back to the Macon Coliseum, site of the Ralph Swearingen State Basketball Championships. Harkening back to last year’s competition, he knew he would be back.

“I told him (Sibley) ‘I will see you next year’,” Johnson said after placing third.

Johnson’s wishes turned out to be true as he took on North Oconee’s Sibley and Sumter County’s Kyric Davis.

Johnson came up just short of bringing home the gold medal as Sibley brought home his second straight championship.

Regardless of the decision, it was a great way to end his career with the Blue Tide.
