Tigers claim 12-9 diamond shootout; lose to LCHS Fri.

Bradwell Institute and Savannah Country Day had a slug-fest on the baseball field Thursday.

The Tigers’ at-bat in the fifth inning, gave the home field team the edged for the 12-9 win.
The game was tied 3-3 going into the fifth inning when the Hornets connected ball to bat and drove in four runs to take the lead. But in the bottom of the inning, errors, a sacrifice fly by O' Brian Nobles, a two-run triple by Evan Crystal and a two-run single by Quindarius Watkins helped the Tigers score in eight runs to reclaim the lead.

The Hornets scored two more runs in the final inning. But the Tigers held on for the win.
Crystal was a perfect 2 for 2 with 2 RBIs. Steven Harris had 3 RBIs. And Watkins was 1 of 4 with 3 RBIs. Robert Rivera was 1 of 3 with 2 RBIs in the game as well.

The Hornets managed 11 hits, but the Tiger defense kept the runners from making it home. Harris earned the win on the mound, Wes Brooks was credited with the save.

The Tigers hosted Liberty County Friday and lost 8-0 in a no-hitter pitched by Liberty’s Colby Rhea.
Steven Harris pitched three innings, walking two and earning two strikeouts. Wes Brooks pitched an inning, walking two and Evan Crystal pitched three innings, also walking two batters.

Bradwell will host South Effingham tomorrow at 6 p.m. in a region 3-AAAAA game.
