Two Eagles drafted by MLB

STATESBORO — Georgia Southern senior outfielder Aaron Mizell was the second Eagle selected in last week’s Major League Baseball Amateur Draft after being taken in the 32nd round by the Houston Astros.
Mizell joined teammate and pitcher Jason Richman, who was taken in the 18th round by the Texas Rangers. Georgia Southern has had multiple players taken in the draft in six of the last seven seasons.
Mizell, a McRae, Georgia, native, led the Eagles with 12 home runs in 2015 and posted a .292 batting average with a .539 slugging percentage, 12 doubles, 46 runs and 40 RBI.
In his two-year career, Mizell tallied 25 home runs and 93 RBI and posted a .301 batting average.
