VALDOSTA – It was an almost perfect night for the Lowndes Vikings at Martin Stadium.

The Vikings’ quarterbacks completed all of 12 of their pass attempts, and the No. 6-ranked team in Class 7A dispatched visiting Long County 53-0.

Sophomore Jordan Parker was 11-of-11 passing for 210 yards and two touchdowns, including an 84-yard connection with Kaevone Thomas. Thomas had eight catches for 180 yards and two scores.

Mason Woods ran six times for 81 yards and three touchdowns, and eight different ballcarriers amassed 190 yards on 21 attempts.

Lowndes’ defense held Long County to 84 total yards and compiled 12 tackles for losses. The Vikings did not allow the Blue Tide to cross its own 40-yard line in the first half, and the Tide only got as far as the Vikings 38 in the fourth quarter.

Lowndes led 37-0 at the half behind Woods’ three touchdown runs and a safety as the Vikings’ Juju Hogan tackled Long County’s punter in the end zone for a safety.

Thomas opened the second-half scoring with his 84-yard touchdown catch, and the special teams added two more on a safety after a bad punt snap, putting Lowndes and coach Adam Carter – the former Bradwell Institute head coach – ahead 46-0 with 8:51 to go in the third quarter.

Lowndes put up 417 yards of total offense and went to 5-0 on the season. Long County fell to 1-3. The Tide opens Region 3-AAAA play on Friday against Harlem. The Bulldogs are 2-2 after a 35-21 loss to Lincoln County. Hayden Youmans and Carter Smith combined to throw for 262 yards and two touchdowns while completing 28 of 49 passes. Smith, 9 of 16, threw for two TDs.
