Weather gives Tigers some rest

The Bradwell Tigers had their last two games canceled due to inclement weather, giving the 3-9 team an opportunity to prepare for the next two games against region opponents. This week, Bradwell hosts Groves on Tuesday and Jenkins on Friday.

On Wednesday, the Tigers took a 2-12 loss in 5 innings at Brunswick in a non-region game. Tiger coach Rhett Hellgren said his squad allowed too many walks and committed 4 errors.

"That will do it to you everytime," he said.

The loss came on the heels of the Tigers’ 20-5 win against Breach High in 4 innings last Tuesday.

Hellgren said Tiger pitcher Trivon Williams took the loss in Wednesday’s game. Ulrick John came in as the relief pitcher and the coach said he did a good job. John also hit a double and a single, and Tiger Stephen Dill hit a double and an RBI.

The Tigers remain 2-1 in region 3-AAAAA. The visiting Groves Rebels are currently 1-2 in the region. The challenge comes from Jenkins, however, which is undefeated in the region at 4-0.

"The next two games are big ones," Hellgren said. "It would have been nice to play these last two games, but next week are the big ones at home."
