Army Sgt. 1st Class Lance E. Powell has been decorated with the Bronze Star for participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving at an overseas forward operating base.
The medal is awarded to individuals who, while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, have performed heroic acts, meritorious achievements or distinguished service during armed conflict or ground combat while engaged against an armed enemy of the United States.
Powell is a musical performance team leader assigned to the 25th Infantry Division Band at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. The sergeant first class has served in the military for 20 years.
He is the son of Cathy L. and Russell E. Powell of Hinesville.

Roberts finishes basic training
Air Force Airman Jerry F. Roberts graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Dean Roberts of Hinesville and Haydee Roberts of Jacksonville.
Roberts is a 2006 graduate of Bradwell Institute.

Frazier graduates from basic

Army Reserve Pfc. Louis Frazier has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.
He is the son of Anjanette Howell of Hinesville.
Frazier is a 2007 graduate of Bradwell Institute.

Hunter finishes ROTC course
Gluck F. Hunter graduated from the Army ROTC Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Wash.
The cadet is a student at Georgia Military College in Milledgeville.
He is the son of Tonjoli Laveaux of Hinesville.
His wife, Kandice, is the daughter of Tonja Tucker of Lawrenceville.
The cadet is a 2004 graduate of Bradwell Institute.
