Bridal Expo on post Sunday open to everyone

Everything you may want for a wedding, or another once-in-a-lifetime event, will be under one roof, at the Bridal Event and Expo, from 1:30-4 p.m. Sunday at Club Stewart: hair and beauty, cakes and catering, travel and entertainment, jewelry and fashion, photography, limousines, music, and prizes.

It is open to the public. Admission costs $5 for military ID cardholders and $7 for others. Registered attendees will be get gift bags and be entered into drawings for a trip or reduced room rental fees. More than 200 wedding dresses will be given away to future military brides.

There will also be a fashion show, hair and make-up presentations, wrap demonstration and table decor presentation.

Dinner and bowling

Families are invited to dinner and bowling from noon-7 p.m. Sunday at Stewart Bowling Center. For $30, your family of five gets two games per person, shoe rental and dinner. For more information, call 767-4273.

 

Keep Taylors Creek nice

Join the volunteers who help keep the clubhouse and grounds at Taylors Creek Golf Course in tip-top shape. The next Volunteer Night is at 5:30 p.m. Monday. There are lots of tasks needing doing. You’ll get a reward. Other Volunteer Nights are scheduled May through October. For more information, call 767-2370. 

 

Crossfit competition

Sign up today for a two-day Crossfit competition, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. May 2-3 at Caro Fitness Center. Contestants in six categories must complete four high intensity workouts. Register online at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil/webtrac/Stewartrectrac.html.

Hunter golf championship

All are invited to a 36-hole, individual stroke competition at 8 a.m. May 3 and 4 to crown the best golfer at Hunter Golf Course. Registration will close on May 1.

Flighting will be after the first round. Divisions; open, senior ages 50-65, super senior 66 and older, and women. The cost is $55 for members; $75 for active duty, retirees and DoD ID cardholders ; and $95 for civilians. Fees includes range balls, greens fees, golf cart and prizes.

Mega Super Bingo

Win up to $85,000 in cash and prizes at Mega Super Bingo from 1-midnight May 4 at Hunter Bingo, 135 Duncan Dr. Games include early birds, warm-ups, specials, intermission play and jackpots.

Racquetball tourney

Join either the women or men's single teams (three divisions) for a double elimination tournament May 8-10 at 6 p.m. at Newman Fitness Center and the 4thIBCT Fitness Center.

There’s no charge, but participants are asked to register by May 5.

There will be one event per person and games played to 15 points. Tie-breakers will be to 11 points, best two out of three. First- and second-place medals will be awarded.

Bass tournament

A catch and release bass tournament will begin at 6 a.m. May 10 at Pineview Lake on Fort Stewart.

Cash prizes are $250 for first-place (heaviest combined weight of up to five bass) and $100 for the largest bass. Door prizes will be awarded.

Anglers can fish from the bank or boat (trolling motors only). No live bait will be permitted. Boat rentals will be available at Holbrook Equipment Center to military ID cardholders who hold a boat safety certificate.

Participants must have proper fishing permits. The tournament is open to everyone, even civilians. Fees vary according to participation and are based on registration date: early bird ends April 30, regular runs May 1-9 and late on May 10, 5:30-7 a.m.

Family quest

Registration is under way for the Family Adventure Quest at Holbrook Pond Recreation Area May 16-17.

Be part of a campout filled with activities. Families will compete in various events, with points awarded in each. The family with the most points will be crowned Fort Stewart’s Family Adventure Quest winner for 2014.

The quest will include the showing of "Yogi Bear," rated PG.

Registration is $30 per family or $15 per individual through May 6, then $50 per family or $25 individual. For information, call 767-4316.
