City, Army putting on Easter fun day

An Easter Egg Roll at Bryant Commons in Hinesville will be 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Hinesville Downtown Development Authority and Fort Stewart MWR event will include kite flying, lawn games, breakfast with the Easter Bunny, a movie, scavenger hunt and more.

Bistro night

Friday is Bistro Night at Club Stewart’s Thunder Run. It features a four-course dinner (salad bar, appetizer, entrée and dessert), for only $10.95 per adult and $6.95 for children (10 and younger).

Characters

Children can meet their favorite characters, and maybe get an autograph, at the Character Meet and Greet from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at Hallstrom Lake on Hunter.

Disney- and Pixar-created characters, along with others are expected.

The cost is $1 per child (15 and younger). Older children are free. For more information, call 315-9554.

 

Color run

The Extreme Color Run at Holbrook Outdoor Recreation Area starts at 9 a.m. Saturday.

The untimed event will take runners approximately five kilometers through Holbrook’s campground and tank trails. Runners will be “colored” as they pass stations along the route.

Cost is $30 per person.

L-T Dan Band

Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will be in concert at 5 p.m. Sunday on Donovan Field.

The free event is presented by the USO in partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation. Bring your own seating.

Pets, smoking, grills, coolers, glass bottles and weapons are prohibited. Vendors will be on-site.

 

GC’s Golf Scramble 

Bring a 4-person team or join a team in the Hunter Garrison Commander’s Golf Scramble April 11 at Hunter Golf Course. Registration closes April 10.

Play begins at 1 p.m. The $35 per person fee includes golf cart, range balls and prizes. For more information, call 315-9115.

 

Power lifting

“The Rock” Power Lifting and Bench Press Competition at Newman Fitness Center is set for April 12. Weigh-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the competition at 10:15.

Contestants will be placed into weight classes and must complete a bench press to qualify. Each competitor will attempt three lifts. The highest overall weight lifted will determine the winners. Awards will be presented.

Post-wide garage sale

Take home a bunch of bargains from Great FMWR Post-Wide Housing Garage Sale from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. April 12 at Fort Stewart and Hunter.

A map showing the locations of sales will be available at WWW.StewartMWR.com. Only residents of post housing are eligible to sell, but everyone, including civilians, can shop.

Visitors to Fort Stewart should enter at Gate 1 on Gen. Screven Way. At Hunter go to the Montgomery Street Gate. Drivers must be able to present a valid driver's license and passengers 16 years old and older must have photo identification.

Bass tournament

A Catch and Release Bass Tournament will begin at 6 a.m. April 12 at Metz Pond at Fort Stewart.

Prizes are $250 for first-place (heaviest combined weight of up to five bass) and $100 for the largest bass. Door prizes will be awarded after weigh-in.

Anglers can fish from the bank or boat (trolling motors only). No live bait will be permitted.

Participants must have proper fishing permits if they are age 15 and older. Fees vary and are based on registration.

The tournament is open to everyone, event civilians.

Babysitting course

Teens can become certified babysitters by completing the SKIES CYSSitter Teenage Babysitter Course from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. April 14 and 15.

The free course will be at SKIES Unlimited on Davis Avenue. Participants must attend both days to become certified.

Register at CYSS Parent Central Services. The course also will be offered later.

Toddler egg hunt

Bring your toddlers, up to age 5, to an Easter egg hunt especially for them April 21 at Cypress Creek. It’s free.
