Cheerleading Showcase   

The public is invited to the free second annual Fort Stewart Cheerleading Showcase on Feb. 22 at 1 p.m.

The showcase will be at the Youth Sports and Fitness Center. Youth Sports cheer squads will entertain with cheers and dances they learned during the basketball season.

Teens can get involved and help improve their quality of life by participating in the free Youth Action Council meeting Feb. 19 from 5-6 p.m. at the Youth Activity Center, behind Diamond Elementary.

Cardboard Boat Regattas

Using only cardboard and duct tape, could you build a boat that will carry a two-person crew across an indoor pool at Newman on Stewart or Tominac on Hunter?

Cardboard Boat Regattas are scheduled at each fitness center at 10 a.m. Feb. 22. There’s no charge to compete, and you might win a prize. You build the boat, paddles provided.

There will be three categories: kids, kid/adult and adult. There also will be a prize for the best looking boat.

Active duty, family members and other authorized facility users are welcome to participate.

Skeet/trap shoot

The quarterly 50-bird skeet shoot will be from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Skeet and Trap Range on Fort Stewart.

A minimum of four shooters is required per division (novice, intermediate, expert, ladies/youth, trap). Cash prizes will be awarded based on number of entries.

Lunch will be provided.

The cost is $25 per person (skeet or trap, 50 birds) or $40 (both events, 100 birds). Open to all military ID cardholders. Register on day of event.

Soccer league

Companies interested in proving who has the best soccer team on Fort Stewart or Hunter should submit a memo to the Bennett Sports Complex on Stewart or Squires Sports Complex at Hunter by March 3. Play will begin March 10, with games at 6 and 7 p.m. at the Sports Annex on Stewart or Squires Sports Complex at Hunter.

Go camping

Join BOSS for a Single Soldier Retreat weekend of fishing, hiking, swimming and everything else at Coffee County State Park in Nicholls, March 7-9.
