Round three of the “Operation Rising Star” singing competition will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Rocky’s Warrior Zone. Round four will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 3.
Judges will pick Hunter/Stewart’s winner from performances at the start of Oktoberfest Oct. 12 at Club Stewart. Audience votes at semi-finals and finals will count for half of the winner’s score.
The top three singers will win from $100 to $500.
A Hunter/Stewart unit or FRG will win a “Spirit Award” of $100 to $300. This award goes to the unit or FRG with the best supportive presence, regardless of contestant participation.

Kids fishing
Children, 15 and younger, can catch up to five catfish at the Kids Fishing Event from 7-10 a.m. Saturday at the Hallstrom Lake Recreation Area on Hunter.

Bass tournament
Compete for prizes in the Catch & Release Bass Tournament at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Metz Pond on Fort Stewart.
There will be prizes in adult and youth categories, based on combined weight of up to five bass.
Participants can fish from the bank or bass boat. Live bait is prohibited. Boat rentals available at Holbrook Equipment Center to military ID cardholders with a boat safety card.
Participants must have Georgia and Stewart/Hunter fishing permits if they are old enough.

The Great FMWR Post-Wide Housing Yard Sale, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Oct. 5, is a great opportunity get rid of unwanted items, and make a few dollars.

Golf scramble
Hunter garrison commander Lt. Col. Clarence W. Bowman’s golf scramble at Hunter Golf Course will be Oct. 11. Players are asked to register by Oct. 9.

Oktoberfest
The second annual Oktoberfest, featuring food, live music and family fun will be outside Club Stewart on Oct. 12.
The day begins with a 5K Mug & Volksmarch at 2 p.m. Then, at 4 p.m., Stewart/Hunter’s Rising Star will be chosen in the final round of the competition.
After that, it’s live music by Darry & the Veil, inflatables, games and amusements, various craft and food vendors. $1 tickets are needed for amusements, $20 for a wristband, and $60 per family for four wristbands.
The public’s welcome and admisison is free.
Pirate Fest
A parade of pirate ships and pirates transform the streets of Tybee Island on Oct. 12. You are invited to don your pirate attire to be part of Pirate Fest. Leisure Travel will make a trip to the island at 1 p.m. Oct. 12. The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for children. The registration deadline is Oct. 9.

Costume Fun Run
Get ready to have some fun and win a prize during the Family Costume Fun Run at 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at Hunter Army Airfield.
There’s no charge, and you can choose to participate in a 5K or 1.5 mile run. Register that day at the starting point, Stephen Douglas Street and Perimeter Road.
