Editor, With the new election cycle upon us, political candidates are vying for voters’s confidence with popular “issues,” wholehearted promises, and contemplative discussion of societal/community ills. It is a transparent strategy.
What counts this election is simply this: “What can you actually do for us, the Average Joe?” Promises are easy to blurt out to garner favor, but can our elected actually get the job done?
Politics is a cutthroat power base with personal ambition enveloping even the best-intentioned candidate! My only hope is that those whose voter confidence has been invested take the awesome responsibility seriously. After all, civil servant means just that — “servitude” in the best interests of all the people.
