GSU offers
baseball camps

 

STATESBORO — Georgia Southern University’s baseball program is offering two instructional camps this winter at J.I. Clements Stadium. They are open to players in fifth grade through high school.

Every Tuesday through Feb. 2, the Eagles will offer a winter hitting league. The camp is limited to the first 30 applicants and costs $250 per person. For more information or to sign up, call Carlos Love at the GSU baseball office at (912) 478-1350.

 

Kings workouts

 

Workout sessions for seventh- and eighth-graders under the guidance of South Georgia Kings founder and coach Jessie Fleming are open for enrollment. The fee is $10 per session. For more information, call 368-1868 or

BI wall of fame submissions

Bradwell Institute is building a wall of fame featuring former BI Tiger athletes who played sports on the college level. Tiger coach Jeff Miller and his assistants have a partial list of athletes, but they’d like even more. Names and photos are being gathered. To submit a name or photo the following criteria must be met:

The former athlete must have graduated from Bradwell Institute. The student athlete must have gone on to play sports at the college level and must have graduate from college.

Georgia Fury needs players

Highlanders pancake breakfast

The First Presbyterian Christian Academy Highlanders will have a pancake sale from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Applebee’s on Oglethorpe Highway. The breakfast will benefit the Highlanders’ basketball team’s expenses as they try for another state title. Tickets are available in advance from the school office or any of the basketball players for $10 each. The price includes three pancakes, three sausage links and a drink. Hinesville Katz needs players

 

Pitching and softball coach Misty Eastlake is looking for players for the 16U year-round traveling softball team, the Hinesville Katz.

The team needs infielders and pitchers. Interested athletes should come to practice from 2-4 p.m. every Sunday at Bradwell Institute’s softball field. For more information on playing or sponsoring a team, call Eastlake at 977-2017.

 

Coastal Crew Rebels tryouts

 

The AAU St. James Coastal Crew Rebels will have tryouts at the St. James Sports Center for the upcoming basketball season. Dates and times are:

14U Rebels: Noon on Feb. 6

15U Rebels: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. March 6

16U Rebels: 2-5 p.m. March 6

17U Rebels: 1-4 p.m. March 13

Heaven Is a Playground
basketball tournament

The first annual Jessie Fleming Heaven Is a Playground basketball tournament is accepting registrations for the tournament, scheduled for Jan. 23-24 at the Liberty County YMCA. Teams must have uniforms and a maximum of 10 players on the roster. Space is limited and early registration is $250. Deadline for early registration is Jan. 18. The fee after deadline is $300.
