Annual memorial rodeo set
The seventh annual Shawnee McGowan Memorial Junior Rodeo will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 29 at the N.C. Ranch in Ludowici
Admission is $5.00, with children 5-younger admitted free.
Since its inception in 2006, the rodeo has raised more than $45,000 for the Long County School System’s clubs and scholarships. The event is done in memory of Shawnee McGowan, a Long County student and barrel racer who died in a tragic accident.
The rodeo features barrel racing, team roping and pole bending, along with games such as mutton bustin, steer scrambles and a toy scramble. There also will be a bicycle giveaway and food.

St. James Sports Center hoops camp
The second annual St. James Sport Center Fundamental Basketball Camp will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the St. James Sports Center in Holmestown. Open to boys and girls in fifth-ninth grades, the camp is free, but campers must be registered. Participants can register at the center.  
Twenty campers will be named all-stars, and the MVP will receive a free Nike T-shirt and basketball.
A basketball game between Fort Stewart’s Youth Challenge Academy and the Coastal Crew Rebels’ Elite team will follow the camp. Tip-off is at 2:30 p.m., and the game is free and open to the public.

Saturday morning youth bowling
Fort Stewart Youth Bowling registration for kids ages 3-18 is from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday at Marne Lanes, 54 Steele Ave.

Coastal Georgia Fall Basketball League
The Georgia Coastal Basketball Club will have its inaugural Georgia Coastal Fall League for boys in seventh through ninth grades. The league will host six regular-season games and a single-elimination tournament. The fee is $350, with referee fees included. Games are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, Oct. 6 and Oct. 13. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for youth and free to ages 6 and younger. AUSA golf tourney
The Association of the U.S. Army’s fourth annual Golf Tournament will start at 8 a.m. Sept. 21 at Taylors Creek Golf Course on Fort Stewart. Cost is $50 per player. The deadline to register is Sept. 14. The tournament will benefit 3rd Infantry Division soldiers and their families. Lunch and door prizes will be provided. Sponsor opportunities are available and cost from $100-$1,500. Golfers have the opportunity to win a new car at a designated hole sponsored by Hinesville Ford.
