STATESBORO — It wouldn’t be August in Statesboro if it wasn’t hot, muggy and gnatty, three signals of the start of Georgia Southern football practice on the banks of “Beautiful Eagle Creek.”
The Eagles report to camp Wednesday, a month before the 2013 season opener, and start preseason practice at 3 p.m. Thursday. Coach Jeff Monken is altering practice schedule slightly with 10 a.m. practices the following two days. Twenty-one practices are on the schedule with two-a-day workouts on Aug. 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16.
Times for the complete schedule will be updated on GSEagles.com. Practices are open to the public, but any filming, recording or photography is limited to the media.
The Eagles kick off the 2013 season vs. Savannah State on Aug. 31 at Paulson Stadium and the opener marks the 400th game in the modern era of Georgia Southern Football. To buy season tickets, call 1-800-GSU-WINS or stop by the ticket office at 203 Lanier Dr. 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday or order online at GSEagles.com/tickets.
