Historic Dorchester Academy Museum will show what life was like in this area from 1871-1940 during its annual Day at Old Dorchester on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The timeline reflects when Dorchester Academy educated freed slaves from across the region and their descendants.

“Today, many people, young and older, have not seen or heard of many things that were used in daily life during that era,” museum curator Deborah Robinson said. “We will have cold sewing machines, butter churns, ice cream churn, old farming equipment and old cars, to name a few.”

Activities will run from noon-4 p.m.

“We are still looking for more objects for display and or demonstration,” Robinson said.
