Calvary tops Liberty in Panthers' home regular season finale

The Liberty County Panthers dropped their fourth straight game Tuesday night, falling 8-1 to Calvary Day in their home regular season finale.

The Cavaliers’ Noah Bauer held the Panthers to one run on two singles over seven innings. He struck out six and did not walk a batter. Three Panthers pitchers combined to strike out eight, but Calvary had nine hits and drew five walks.

Noah Bauer also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Will Bauer was 2-for-4 for the Cavaliers and Waylan Heidik was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

That loss followed an 18-17 slugfest setback against Southeast Bulloch. The Panthers scored eight runs in the top of the first inning but the Yellow Jackets had an eight-run rally in the fourth. Liberty took a 17-16 lead in the sixth but SEB responded with two runs in the bottom half.

The Panthers had 10 hits, drew nine walks and also got the benefit of seven SEB errors. But the Panthers also had eight errors.

Shedrick Pass was 2-for-5 with a double, while Caden Chancey was 2-for-5 and drove in three runs. Wyatt Huston was 2-for-5 and accounted for one RBI, Jaden Herrington drove in three runs and Mikey Miller and Ezzard Jemison each had two RBIs.

The losses dropped the Panthers to 21-7 on the year and 7-4 in Region 3-AAA.

Liberty visited Portal on Wednesday for its final non-region game of the year and the Panthers visit Calvary Day today to conclude the regular season.
