Be a positive influence for children
pastor corner

The Apostle Paul wrote to his student Timothy and reminded him in 2 Timothy 1:5 that his grandmother and mother were living out an example before him.

He said, "I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also."

Most likely it was their influence that helped Timothy make a decision to follow Jesus Christ.

Parents don’t realize that the decisions they make and the way they live have a great impact on their kids. I have heard parents say that they will let their children make their own decisions in regard to their faith, but the truth of the matter is that in most cases, they follow in the footsteps of their parents. Parents have an awesome responsibility to lead their children in the right ways, and the Scriptures reveal that the right way is to allow Jesus Christ to come in and change their lives.

The problems we have in society can be solved if we as a society will just start following Jesus Christ and his teachings.

We as a church here at New Beginnings are trying to be a positive influence that will impact the children God has entrusted us with. We try through our children’s church, Awana program and vacation Bible school to teach our children the way to lead successful lives.

By the way, it is not too late to register for this year’s VBS (6:30-8:30 p.m. July 18-22) by either going to our website at nbcchurch.com or by just showing up.

Many of you can point back to the influence of a parent, grandparent or Sunday school teacher who had a tremendous influence on your decision to follow Jesus Christ. Drop them a note, give them a call or thank them in person for making a difference in your life.
