More than 6,000 ballots have been cast so far in Liberty County’s early and advanced voting.
Those numbers top the number of ballots cast for all of early voting in the county for the May general primary. There were 5,226 votes through advanced voting and another 222 sent in by mail for the May primary.
Early voting was heaviest on the first day, when 1,212 county residents cast ballots. The numbers tapered off through the week but remained strong. Saturday was the slowest day, with 492 early votes cast.
So far this week, 1,294 early votes have been cast through Tuesday’s early voting. There were 38,301 registered voters for the primary, with turnout then at 23.2%. More voters chose early voting than going to the polls in the May primary, with more than 60% casting ballots ahead of election day.
There also will be an early voting window this Saturday and early voting continues next week from October 26–30.
Early voting can be done at either the elections and registration’s main office at 100 Main Street, Suite 1600, in Hinesville in the Historic Liberty County Courthouse or at the county East End Complex, 9397 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Midway. Early voting will be conducted from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.
Polls at precincts will be open November 3 from 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
