Pastor Richard Hayes and members of the New Day Outreach Ministry have moved to a new location at 77 Kent Road in Walthourville. The congregation is excited about settling in and becoming active in the new community.
New Day Outreach Ministry was established by Hayes in 2006. Before moving to Walthourville, the church held services in Hinesville.
“The church started as a home Bible study. We celebrated our third year in May,” Hayes said. “At New Day Outreach Ministry, we believe the family provides a training ground for propelling you towards your
destiny. Family is about relation-ships. The ministry works towards building relationships. We build relationships by spending time fellowshipping and learning our brothers and sisters so that we are able to communicate positive influences and encouragement.”
Before he was a pastor, Hayes served as a minister, deacon, praise and worship leader, and had various other positions in the church. He was ordained as an elder in 2000. Hayes said he played a key role in the development and coordination of the Bishops’ World Ministries, which is a fellowship of churches throughout the Southeastern United States.
“We want to alert the community and introduce ourselves. We also want to make them aware of our services and what we have to offer. We are encouraging people in the Walthourville community to come out and enjoy themselves,” Hayes said. “Since we relocated, our attendance has increased.”
In celebration of New Day Outreach Ministry’s relocation, members are having a community celebration fellowship Aug. 20-22.
On Aug. 20 at 7 p.m., there will be a worship service. Pastor Arthur Fairnot of Liberty Christian Fellowship in Hinesville is the guest speaker. Hayes is the speaker on Friday, Aug. 21.
To further celebrate the move and to become more acquainted with the community, New Day will host a community picnic at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22.
“We are planning to have a good time. There will be a popsicle eating contest, moon bounce, face painting, gospel music, games and prizes. Free hamburgers and hot dogs will also be served,” Hayes said. “We want you to dress comfortably and bring your lawn chairs. All events on Saturday will be held outdoors. Come enjoy a New Day experience.”
Hayes and his wife, Opel S. Hayes, live in Hinesville. He was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and raised in Pine Bluff, Ark. He came to Hinesville while assigned to the military. He served 10 years in the U.S.
Army as an air traffic controller and is currently an air traffic controller at MidCoast Regional Airport in Hinesville.
