Find your peace by going to God

With all the issues going on around us today — even right here in our own homeland — we long for peace. We look to our leadership for answers, and we will either agree or disagree with their response.

What we fail to realize is that peace actually begins in our own lives. Take a look around. Marriages are being destroyed, crime is rampant, and many of our children are confused and going astray. We could make many excuses for some of the things that are going on, but it all comes back to a lack of peace.

Let’s talk about the peace we need and that makes a real difference in our lives. God’s word says “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). Can it possibly be that we are looking for peace in the wrong people, places and things? These only bring temporal, maybe even negative results. But when we trust in the Lord and pray for our leadership and lean not on our own understanding, something positive has to happen.

I believe something good is about to happen to everyone who believes that truth. God is good and we can rely on Him with all confidence in Him. Hey, I am a witness to it.
