This beautiful song reminds us who we must thank for our country's freedom this Independence Day

As we go about our 4th of July activities this year, let's take the time to remember that the freedom we celebrate is not free. It was bought with bravery, love and sacrifice. Many men, women and children throughout history have fought hard, cried bitterly and prayed fervently for the freedom we so often take for granted.

This beautiful video, featuring Condoleezza Rice (former United States Secretary of State) and Jenny Oaks Baker, is a poignant reminder that our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness were bought with blood and blessings.

We can express our opinions freely, because a group of people had the courage to raise their own voices. We are able to practice religion, because of the fire and faith that burned within the forefathers of this great country. We are able to pursue our dreams because humble farmers and shopkeepers took up arms against the most powerful military force on earth. These heroes bought our freedom with their lives. And many since then have done the same to keep this freedom.

However, these brave soldiers are not the only ones we need to show gratitude to this July. We often forget another being who has been behind us all along. From the very beginning, God has aided us in obtaining and maintaining this extraordinary nation. Logic tells us that it should have been humanly impossible for those little bands of patriots to come out victorious. But they did. All through the amazing grace of God. The history of the United States is filled with miracles. It is undeniable. We are truly one nation, under God.

This holiday, as you spend time with your friends and family, try to remember the miraculous things our soldiers and God have done to give you the gift of liberty and freedom.
