Last year marked the 19th year for Hinesville being a tree city.
“In Hinesville, we have proved that trees and cities can co-exist, and especially in the recent past our city has built a strong relationship between nature and development,” area Georgia Forestry Commission Ranger Jeff Stone said at a recent city council meeting while presenting the honor.
Most cities in the state are not recognized as tree cities so this is a distinguishable honor, Stone said.
