Holiday events piling up

Events heralding the holidays are starting.

The eighth annual Christmas Bazaar at Dorchester Village Civic Center will offer a variety of handmade arts and unusual gifts for all the people on your Christmas list.

Area vendors will have tables offering their goods from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2. The center is at 1804 Islands Highway, Midway, east of I-95’s Midway exit.

There will also be a fried fish dinner for $10 a plate, dine in or take out.

NAACP Holiday Bash

Nov. 21 is the deadline to RSVP for the Liberty County Branch NAACP’s Holiday Bash, which will be Tuesday, Dec. 5. It is for members only, adults and youth, but new members and renewals will be allowed at the door, and will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Flemington. Parades on Shellman Bluff

The Friends of Shellman Bluff will sponsor its Golf Cart Christmas Parade of Lights in at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8. The McIntosh County community’s Boat Parade of Lights will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16.

Entry for each event is $25, with all proceeds going to the McIntosh County Empty Stocking Fund.

Fort Stewart tree lighting

The Christmas tree outside Club Stewart on Fort Stewart will come to life and Santa will arrive at the Tree Lighting Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5.

Featured at the annual event will be seasonal music by members of the 3rd ID Band and songs by a local high school chorus. The audience can join in singing holiday songs with Santa’s Elf. Plus, there will be free MWR Kiddie Train rides.

FRGS will have food items and smalls gifts at the Kringle Market. Santa will be available for photos.
