Attendees of the Long County Health Department’s informational festival last week learned about services the department provides and programs available in the area.
“We want people in the county to know about the different resources that are out there, and are available for them,” LCHD nurse manager Kathy Rowell said.
Offerings at the festival included free blood sugar tests, bone density screenings, blood pressure checks, counseling for smokers who want to quit, hearing and vision testing, HIV testing, exercise/nutrition counseling, pneumonia shots and tetanus shots.
Lunch was provided to all festival-goers and ladies enjoyed manicures and other cosmetic services.
Natasha Chapman, who recently moved to Long County with her family said, “I think this is really good. All of the information is very useful and everything is interesting.”
Ludowici resident Sarah Jenkins agreed. “This is nice,” she said. “Everyone out here is very helpful, and it’s good to have activities like this.”
