JESUP — St. Joseph’s/Candler recently donated $5,000 to the Jesup Downtown Development Authority’s fire fund, which was created to help businesses and employees after an Aug. 4 fire affected 25 percent of the downtown Jesup area.
“Our thoughts and prayers have been with all of those affected directly and indirectly by this terrible fire,” St. Joseph’s/Candler Marketing Director Melissa Allen said after presenting the donation. “We hope that this donation will help in the efforts to rebuild like it never happened.  It’s the least we could do for the citizens of this wonderful community.”
Allen drove to the fire scene to meet with Jesup City Manager Mike Deal and JDDA Chairman and Wayne Memorial Hospital CEO Joe Ierardi.
Deal and Ierardi expressed their gratitude for St. Joseph’s/Candler’s generosity.
