The YMCA of Coastal Georgia held its 159th annual meeting March 25 at the Armstrong Center on Abercorn Street in Savannah.
The business portion of the evening focused on recapping the Y's recent work, looking to the future, nominating new volunteer leaders and honoring retiring board members, volunteers and staffers.
Results of the YMCA’s annual fundraising campaign also were announced. This year, the YMCA raised $652,108, which helps to provide a safe after-school environment for children, gives many area residents access to training and education, and helps families reconnect and grow. The Liberty County/Armed Services YMCA in Hinesville, a branch of the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, raised $23,369, which contributed to the association’s overall goal.
In 2013, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia provided its communities with a total of $3,123,077, which included financial assistance for more than 22,000 people who otherwise would not have been able to afford YMCA programs or memberships.
The YMCA's incoming corporate board of directors, some of whom are newly elected and some of whom are returning, are: Judge Mary Kathryn Moss, Leo Beckmann, Wayne Bland, Gary Davis, Lt. Col. William Bowman, Tamala Fulton, Diana Morrison, Al Pace, Dave Pearl, Steven Price and Ryan Schneider.
The volunteer leadership at the Liberty County YMCA includes Chairman Fred Mingledorff and management board members Larry Cutchens, Alan Darsey and Jane Murray.
