There was a retirement party Feb. 7, celebrating Johnny Wayne Johnson’s 45 years with Long County.

The party attracted county commissioners, other officials, co-workers from the road department, family and well-wishers.

"Mr. Wayne" as he was known was the heavy equipment operator for the county and retired Jan. 27.

Mary Ann Odum, clerk of commissioners office, said Johnson was "one of the longest Long County workers, having 45 years of service as far as she can remember."

Johnson received a plaque.
