The Great FMWR Post-Wide Housing Yard Sale will be from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.

Only post-housing residents are eligible to sell, but everyone, including civilians can shop throughout Stewart and Hunter.

A map of sale sites will be posted at www.stewartmwr.com for Stewart and www.huntermwr.com for Hunter.

Bistro Night

Bistro Night Friday features Oktoberfest-themed cuisine from 5-8 p.m. at Club Stewart, Thunder Run.

Start with a 20-plus item salad bar, then the chef's selection of appetizers, an entrée and a dessert. Soft beverages included. Bar service available. Cost is $12.95 per adult and $6.95 for children ages 10 and younger.

Skeet range hours

New hours have been adopted by the Stewart Skeet and Trap Range at Holbrook Pond.

From October-April, the facility will be open 3-7 p.m. Fridays and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.

Golf hours change

The clubhouses at Taylors Creek and Hunter Golf courses now close at 6:30 p.m.

With the arrival of Daylight Savings Time on Nov. 2, the clubhouses will close at 5:30 p.m.

Fall Carnival

A four-day, pay-as-you-go carnival is coming to Fort Stewart Oct. 9-12.

It will be at Walker Field and will feature rides, concessions and games.

It will be open 6-10 p.m. Oct. 9; 6-11 p.m. Oct. 10; noon-11 p.m. Oct. 11 and 1-11 p.m. Oct. 12.

Food and games will be individually priced. Rides cost 3-4 tickets per ride. You can save by buying tickets in quantity or arm bands for unlimited rides for the night.

No weapons, pets, coolers or food allowed on site. For more information, call 767-6212.

 

GC's golf scramble

Lt. Col. Will Bowman’s Garrison Commander’s golf scramble will be Oct. 10 at Hunter Golf Course. Bring a four-person team to play. The shotgun start is at 9 a.m.

The $35 cost includes tournament fee, golf cart, driving range balls and prizes. Players are asked to register by Oct. 8.

Float trip

Enjoy a leisurely paddle down a Coastal Georgia river from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 11. Participants are asked to register by Oct. 9.

Lifeguards will be on the trip. Bring a lunch for a picnic and don’t forget your camera. It is recommended that beginners take a basic course at Holbrook Pond. Youth younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Paddlers must be at least 12.

Get Golf-Ready

Register by Oct 13 online at www.playgolfamerica.com or call Hunter Golf Course for the next Get Golf-Ready series , Oct. 14, 16, 18, 21 and 23.

Sessions are open to beginners to learn mechanics, putting, rules and etiquette.

The cost is $149 per person for the 60-minute sessions of instruction, plus one-month course membership and a dozen golf balls.

Sesame Street/USO

Sesame Street and the USO bring fuzzy and friendly Muppets to Newman Fitness Center for shows at 6 p.m. on Oct. 21 and Oct. 22.

Military families are invited to see the show featuring Katie, a military kid on Sesame Street who is moving to a new place.

Crossfit challenge

Register for the CrossFit Fort Stewart Warrior Challenge from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 25at Caro Fitness Center. Sign-up closes Oct. 22.

Soldiers, family members and Army civilians can compete.

Bourbon Dinner

Experience a six-course, bourbon-themed gourmet meal at the Coastal Empire Bourbon Dinner on Oct. 25.

The evening will feature bourbon-inspired foods that reflect the complex taste and character of the American spirit. Meet Phil Prichard, master distiller of fine spirits, from Kelso, Tenn.

The cocktail hour features bourbon appetizers.

Serving begins at 6 p.m. in Thunder Run at Club Stewart. Seating is limited and by reservation only, accepted until Oct. 23. The cost is $75 per person.

The Rock

Registration is under way for The Rock Body Building and Figure Contest Nov. 1 at Woodruff Theater on Fort Stewart.

Weigh-in will be at 8 a.m., prejudging at 10 and the finals at 6:30 p.m.

The cost to register until Oct. 17 is $25, then is $35 until the event. There is an additional crossover fee of $15. Sign up at Newman Fitness Center.
