Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Bryan R. Graves, son of Lori J. Graves of Allenhurst and Terrence R. Graves of Lakewood, Wash., participated in a recent community service project at the House of Family children’s shelter in Cambodia.
The shelter, located in Sihanoukville, serves as a refuge for HIV/AIDS-positive orphans or vulnerable children.
Graves joined fellow sailors assigned to amphibious transport dock ship USS New Orleans and embarked Marines of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit in the project. Sailors and Marines helped make a stone walkway for the shelter. Afterward, they played games, danced and provided basic medical treatment for the kids.
New Orleans deployed in early November in support of the nation’s Maritime Strategy and is currently conducting theater security cooperation missions in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
Graves is a 2006 graduate of Yelm High School of Yelm, Wash., and joined the Navy in August 2006.

Liberty County alum Rose graduates from basic training
Air Force Airman Kyle L. Rose graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
Rose is a 2011 graduate of Liberty County High School. He is the son of Cliff Rose of Hinesville.
