Salute to women veterans set for Nov. 7

The Community of Inspired Women wants to salute area women veterans and will be honoring them Nov. 7 with a special ceremony during the monthly MERGE meetup at the Liberty County Performing Arts Center.

The MERGE is held the first Tuesday of each month from 5:30-7 p.m. It begins with a networking session and ends with an inspirational talk by guest speakers. For November, the group will present “The Lemonade Project.”

“We were sitting around thinking of a good way to end the year and thought a rapid fire session covering different issues and emotions would be great,” said Daisy Jones, communications chair for CIW.

The November talk will feature 11 local women discussing 11 topics inspired by the infamous 2016 visual album Lemonade by pop icon Beyonce. The panelists will each have three minutes to share an inspirational message in TED Talk fashion.

“It’s going to be fun but powerful," said Krystal Hart, president of CIW. “We embrace all women and want to be a safe place for all topics to be discussed so I’m excited to hear what everyone has to say.”

Women 19 and older are welcome to attend this free event. Childcare is provided and donations will be accepted for the caregivers.
