Here are some of the issues area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

Why does Midway and Hinesville have to have its gas higher than Savannah and Richmond Hill? We try to wait until we go to Richmond Hill to fill up.

It’s a shame that these school systems are letting go good workers and keeping the other ones just to pacify them. They need to watch what they are doing.

I’m an 87-year-old senior in Liberty County and just finished paying for the solid waste. I think I have paid enough and the rest of the seniors feel the same.

Concerning the proposed business center in Allenhurst, I would suggest the mayor of Hinesville and LCPC pay more attention to Hinesville and let other municipalities decide their own fate. The reason Allenhurst was incorporated was to keep it from being swallowed up by Hinesville and to preserve the way it had always been, small and uncomplicated.

When do students transitioning from pre-school to kindergarten start signing up?

Does anyone in the Midway area make crab boxes?

I’m not against anyone loving cats or keeping them in their home. But I do object to them being in my yard and I can’t be outside because of the smell, especially in the heat. Be a good neighbor and take care of your cats.

I thought it was illegal for companies to tell employees they have to work an hour to two hours overtime without pay, especially when the they are part-time?

Why didn’t GM cut prices when they knew they were in financial trouble? That would have been the smart thing, instead of flying around in corporate jets and giving away big payouts for doing nothing. Now it’s too late.

Graduation was May 23, where are the thank you notes for the gifts you grads got? I’ll remember you when you graduate from college.
Beware of the advice that you should stay home when you are sick, contagious or not. As soon as you do it a lot of supervisors will call you a slacker, a deadbeat and sick-leave abuser.

Your life is what you make it. You can turn it around or you can just sit there and wallow in self pity.

So long, Dairy Queen, for charging 20 cents for a cup of water with an ice cream. I’ll go somewhere else from now on.

Why did they say waterboarding works when Bin Laden is still alive and sending out messages, we’re still in wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. I know it doesn’t meet with God’s approval either.

Good neighbors, good dogs and good children all have one thing in common. They are seen, but not heard.
