Here are some of the issues that area residents are discussing. The statements were phoned in anonymously, so the Courier does not vouch for their veracity, nor do we know what motivated the callers:

 

The only reason the parents of the seventh-graders would put their kids against little fifth-graders who have never played before is because they want their child to be the star. This is not what soccer is about. It’s about little kids liking soccer and learning how to play and winning once in a while so they can feel good about themselves.

This is in response to the call about officiating at the Liberty County High School football game. It seems to me that somebody wants some home cooking. Officiating should be the same whether you’re home or away. Seems somebody wants somebody to cheat and that’s not what we’re looking for. Take a look at yourself and see what you’re asking officials to do.

Mr. Mayor, it is a tight budget year, so why are you going to China?
