Marne Community and Spouses Club hosted a ribbon cutting and open house Tuesday in conjunction with the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce at the IHG Army Hotel on Fort Stewart.
Club President Jennifer Autrey welcomed club members, chamber staff, board members and ambassadors and others to the event.
Marne Community and Spouses Club takes its roots from traditional officers’ wives clubs and garden clubs dating to the 1950s, according to Autrey.
Projects for the upcoming year include beautification on Fort Stewart and supplying books and popsicles to children at Winn Army Community Hospital. Paula Robinson, who handled community outreach for the club, said it will be working with organizations like the Liberty County Humane Shelter and Keep Liberty Beautiful in order to provide community service outside Fort Stewart.
