The Hinesville Area Arts Council (HAAC) announces a special book signing event featuring Roderick Nathaniel Pugh, professionally known as The Bama Mist, on Thursday, July 9, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Hinesville Area Arts Council, located at 102 Commerce Street, Downtown Hinesville.
Pugh, an Army veteran, author, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, will be signing copies of his memoir, “2 Lives,” an account based on true events chronicling his life, military service, and journey of perseverance.
Born in Grove Hill, Alabama, and raised in Thomasville, Alabama, Pugh joined the U.S. Army in June 2001. During Operation Iraqi Freedom, he was among the first 1,000 soldiers to enter Iraq as part of 2/7 Infantry, Headquarters and Alpha Company, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division (2002– 04). In 2006, Pugh made history as the first African American sniper in the Iraq campaign in U.S. Army history. He later continued his service with 3/7 Infantry, Headquarters and Bravo Company, 4th Brigade (2011–13).
The event offers the community an opportunity to meet the author, hear his inspiring story of courage and determination, and purchase signed copies of 2 Lives.
“This event is more than a book signing,” Leah Poole, chairman of the HAAC said. “It’s a celebration of resilience, service, and the power of overcoming adversity.”
The evening will include a welcoming atmosphere for readers, veterans, supporters, and community members to connect with Pugh and learn more about his remarkable life story.
Books will be available for purchase during the event. Admission is free and open to the public.
