Savannah Christian Church will host two employment workshops, offering free practical advice for jobseekers.
“Careers in Transition: Practical Strategies for Tough Economic Times,” will be from 9 a.m.-noon April 25 and May 2, at the church, 55 Al Henderson Blvd. in Savannah. They are free and open to the public, but registration is required and can be completed online at www.SavannahChristian.com or by calling (912) 629-3356.
“More than 13,000 people in Chatham, Bryan and Effingham counties are now unemployed and looking for work,” said Steve Angel, associate pastor for community care. “That statistic represents many, many hurting individuals and families. We think one way we can help is by offering practical advice as well as encouragement.”
The topics on April 25 will include:
• Networking: Maximize your networking efforts, whether you are looking for a job, clients or an employee.
• Creating effective resumes: Develop a resume that will stand out in a crowd
• Finding the perfect career: Evaluate your talents and passions, and find a job  most likely to bring satisfaction.
• Preparing for interviews: Impress by appearing confident and successful.
May 2 workshop attendees will participate in mock job interviews by appointment. They will hone interview skills with a professional recruiter, who will then provide feedback.
After registering, participants will be called to schedule an interview appointment between 9 a.m. and noon.
